  • The non-partisan “no” committee against the center’s “cost brake initiative” warns of “two-class medicine”.
  • If accepted on June 9th, access to health care for those with basic insurance would no longer be guaranteed.
  • Opponents of the initiative fear that patients will have to pay for every third doctor’s visit out of their own pocket in the future.

Criticism of the non-partisan No Committee: The “cost brake initiative” does not say how health insurance costs should be reduced.

The health insurance companies would therefore have to rely on the cost cap in the future, say representatives of the SVP, SP, FDP, GLP and Greens as well as the professional association of nursing staff (SBK) and the general practitioners’ association (MFE). The initiative therefore threatens the basis of the supply system in Switzerland.

After four years before the people

Four years ago, the Center Party launched the cost brake initiative. The referendum calls for the introduction of a cost cap in compulsory health insurance. Accordingly, their costs should not rise more than wages.
