Cottage core is a trend that has been very popular during the Corona period. But what exactly is behind it and how can you implement it in your own life? Here are some ideas.
A hectic everyday life, external factors in politics and society that cannot be influenced, health problems – unfortunately there are many reasons to get emotionally out of balance and to feel overwhelmed. For several years there has been a “movement” that has made it its own goal to actively counteract this. Cottagecore not only refers to an aesthetic trend that is reflected in fashion and interior design. Rather, it is a way of life with a return to the beauty of nature, silence, deceleration and naturalness.
Cottage core: aesthetic trend and attitude to life in one
The trend was given a name as early as 2018: cottage core, also referred to by many as farm core. In the course of the Corona period, not only the term spread, but also the associated attitude to life. The words cottage and core, which come together here, can be quickly explained and reveal a lot about the meaning and direction of the aesthetic and lifestyle. “Cottage” means “hut” in German; “core” derives from the word “hardcore” and stands for an extreme. The reflection on a simple way of life in a “hut” is therefore extensively celebrated.

Whether it’s interior design, clothing or everyday activities: the ideal image of a simple, natural life is always in the foreground. Excerpts of the country house style and corresponding motifs can be found in numerous nooks and crannies. Flowers underline the natural character of the trend, both as floral patterns in fashion and as interior elements in the form of cut and dried flowers. The whole thing is rounded off when the flowers are even picked on a walk and later dried. Because walks in nature and designing things yourself are basically among the hobbies of many Cottagecore fans. So flowers should not be missing in your life.
