CottageCore, when 19th century fashion becomes trendy again

Live in the countryside, as in the 19th century? This is the trend of the moment on social networks! Zoom in on what is called the CottageCore.

Have you always dreamed of living in the countryside and adopting the lifestyle that goes with it? Good thing, we are currently witnessing the advent of CottageCore, a trend that is gaining momentum on social networks. Contraction of “cottage” and “hardore”, this one translates into a desire to return to simple things. It goes even further, CottageCore enthusiasts promote a simple and minimalist lifestyle in the heart of nature, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. And who says new way of life, necessarily says new dress style!

On Instagram, British influencer Paula Sutton is the perfect example. This former fashion journalist gave up her life in London to go relax in Norfolk with her three children. The 51-year-old Englishwoman has moved into a beautiful and peaceful English cottage to which she has dedicated an Instagram account called @hillhousevintage. On it, she also posts her vintage looks with British accents that her 463,000 subscribers admire on a daily basis. And frankly, it makes you want!

Long dresses, puffed sleeves and large hats

To stick to this quiet country life, CottageCore devotees adopt typical 19th century dresses. This is the case for example of the empire dress, which is a hit at the moment. And even more since the release of the Netflix series The Chronicle of the Bridgertons. According to the research platform Stylight, searches for empire dresses have indeed increased by 150%. Another style of dress that fits perfectly with the CottageCore trend: long floral dresses with puffed sleeves, the same as we saw in La Petite Maison dans la Prairie. In any case, it makes us want to change our life!
