More ecological and safer than their ancestors, modern airships are considered one of the ways to decarbonize the aviation sector. While they were completely abandoned in the middle of the 20the century, they could come back in force to transport goods cheaper than current cargo planes, or transport passengers in what would be, in a way, flying luxury hotels.
Generalizing it to the entire airline sector seems to pose some insoluble problems. There is currently no question of it replacing fast long-haul ships or huge cargo ships. But airships could perform well in certain very specific tasks.
