Could be Dark Souls 4: New Lords of the Fallen gameplay shows many parallels

GAMING

The developers of Hexworks show a new gameplay video for the RPG Lords of the Fallen. This could almost pass as Dark Souls 4 thanks to dozens of similarities to the FromSoftware series.

  • The developers of Lords of the Fallen have released a new nearly 18-minute gameplay video for the game.
  • The scenes shown are reminiscent of the well-known Dark Souls series in many ways.
  • In the comments on the trailer, many players are already enthusiastic.

Well, who got their inspiration from the FromSoftware developers? Admittedly, many game developers do that today, but the parallels to the Soulslike game series have rarely caught our eye as strikingly as with the upcoming Lords of the Fallen. How many similarities to the FromSoftware series do you discover in the almost 18-minute gameplay trailer for the RPG?

On the one hand there is the rather dark fantasy setting. The mood lighting and the effects could easily come from a trailer for Dark Souls 4. The movements of the character, the combat system shown with the interplay of parade, side roll and attack, as well as the rather horrid enemy designs – the parallels are unmistakable.

And apparently the developer Hexworks hit the right nerve, because the reactions to the trailer on YouTube are mostly very positive. In addition to an impressive boss fight, the video also gives you an insight into many areas of the game world and the game’s co-op mode. Of course, Lords of the Fallen will also offer gameplay elements that stand out from the well-known Soulslike principle.

Dark Souls 3 in the test: fire and flame for the finale
Conclusion of the legendary RPG series

Dark Souls 3 promises embers and ashes on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Is it really the hottest RPG of 2016? Or are you burning your fingers? Find out the answer in the test.

Two worlds full of different dangers

This includes, for example, that you can switch between two worlds with your character. While the realm of the living, Axiom, is already populated by many opponents, the undead world Umbral presents you with much more dangerous challenges. A death in the world of the living automatically transfers you to the much more dangerous Umbral world. As with Dark Souls, a careful approach is required.

Lords of the Fallen is the successor to the 2014 predecessor of the same name and will be released on October 13, 2023 for the PlayStation 5, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S as well as for the PC.
