As part of CES 2023, Volkswagen is formalizing the next model in its ID range.

This is a new sedan, 100% electric therefore, and inspired by the ID.AERO concept: here is the ID.7!

Volkswagen: the ID.AERO gives way to the ID.7!

At the height of summer, Volkswagen presented a brand new futuristic concept called ID.AERO. At the start of 2023, the German manufacturer is taking advantage of CES to transform this same concept into a brand new model to come in the ID range: the ID.7. This is the first 100% electric sedan signed Volkswagen, based on the modular electrification platform house (MEB), and still hidden under a camouflage to say the least astonishing.

And for good reason, Volkswagen wanted to offer a digital camouflage using a new vehicle paint, which reveals the ID.7 with interactive lighting. Thus, no less than 40 layers of electroluminescent paint, sometimes conductive, sometimes insulating, were applied. Below the top coat of paint, 22 individually controllable areas of the vehicle are electrified and can be illuminated.

A range of 700 km for the Volkswagen ID.7

In terms of looks, the new Volkswagen ID.7 is characterized by particularly careful aerodynamics, particularly in terms of the front end and the roof. As with any vehicle originally designed to be 100% electric, this contributes to the reduction of energy consumption, and therefore to the increase in autonomy. Volkswagen promises as such a range of 700 km for this ID.7.

To this will be added many technologies aimed at optimizing comfort on board. For example, the ID.7 will recognize, with its key, the approaching driver and, before the latter gets on board, will already begin to cool the passenger compartment in summer weather or to heat it in cold weather. . On board, there will also be a new concept of head-up display with augmented reality, not to mention a large 15″ screen and numerous touch features.

The new ID.7 tops off our range of electric models. The sedan will offer state-of-the-art technology and quality. The ID.7 is one of ten new electric models that we plan to launch on the market by 2026 “, explains Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen brand.

In 2023, Volkswagen intends to continue its ACCELERATE electric strategy initiated in 2020 with the launch of the ID.3. At the end of last year, the group announced that it had passed a first symbolic milestone by exceeding 500,000 deliveries of vehicles in the ID range worldwide.

Volkswagen says the ID.7 for the European market will come out of the Emden plant, as will a certain ID.4.
