So far there is no competition for the FDP politician. If this remains the case, Hans Wicki will be confirmed in a silent election.

The previous Nidwaldner FDP Council of States Hans Wicki is firmly in the saddle. So far, no opposing candidacy has emerged that could challenge him for the seat. Even silent elections are possible, as was the case four years ago.

And even if a candidate comes up before the entry deadline on September 4th, Hans Wicki can still look forward to the elections with ease. The former government councilor enjoys great support in the canton of Nidwalden.

Already a candidate for the Federal Council

At national level, he caused a stir in 2018. At that time he took part in the replacement election for Federal Councilor Johann Schneider-Ammann. In the end, his party colleague Karin Keller-Suter won the race.

Among other things, Hans Wicki is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Titlis Bergbahnen. Otherwise his backpack is filled with many board positions. That has already brought him criticism. In his previous two legislatures as a member of the Council of States, Wicki has attracted attention neither with distinctive speeches nor with pointed advances.
