  • Some players are reportedly receiving a VAC error message in Counter-Strike 2.
  • This apparently means that players can no longer start the shooter.
  • There are already various approaches to troubleshooting the problem.

Counter-Strike 2 could be coming soon, according to the latest Steam anniversary post. If you would like to test the new shooter before the official release, Valve regularly offers new beta access as part of the updates.

However, some players report difficulties starting the game. Problems are said to arise particularly with the anti-cheat software VAC.

Possible solutions

As Dexerto reports, it can be helpful to restart the game by quitting Counter-Strike 2 and Steam completely via the task manager.

To get around potential system permission issues, you might want to run Counter-Strike 2 and Steam as an administrator. You should also check the integrity of the game. By right-clicking on CS:GO you will find the “Settings” option. Under Installed Files, select Check Files for Errors.

If the previous steps didn’t help you, the last solution is to restart your computer and reinstall the game. However, you should only consider this option as a last resort, as a reinstallation is not guaranteed to produce a positive result.

For players who don’t receive VAC error messages but still struggle with input lag in the game, we also offer various solutions. As usual, you can find information about other upcoming games in our gaming release list.
