France again crossed a record for Covid-19 contamination on Wednesday, crossing the threshold of 200,000 cases for the first time, according to figures unveiled by the Minister of Health Olivier Véran.

Some 208,000 cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours in France, “figures that make you dizzy”, announced the minister during a hearing at the National Assembly. On Tuesday evening, Public Health France had announced nearly 180,000 cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours, which was already a record.

Monday evening, he had predicted that “we could reach more than 250,000 cases per day by the beginning of January”. Initially scheduled for application at the end of January, the bill providing for wanting to transform the health pass into a vaccination pass is examined by the Law Commission at the Palais Bourbon on Wednesday.
The text will then be discussed in the hemicycle of the Palais Bourbon from Monday and in the Senate from Wednesday January 5 for entry into force scheduled for January 15.
