Covid-19: 94 dead in 24 hours, 19,271 hospitalized patients


1,233 patients are being treated in critical care units, compared to 1,292 the day before.

94 people died of Covid this Friday, May 13, 10 more than the day before, when 84 patients had died from the virus, according to the daily report of the Public Health France organization. In total, more than 147,257 people were killed by Covid-19 in France.

19,271 patients are currently hospitalized in France (against 19,761 Thursday), including 756 who arrived this Friday. 1233 patients are treated in critical care units. 24 hours earlier, they were 1292.

The number of new cases stood at 32,773 against 40,224 last week, a drop of 18.5% in seven days. The daily average of new contaminations over seven days, which smoothes the variations, stood at 34,314 on Friday, against 42,048 the previous Friday.

On the vaccination side, no change: 54.3 million people have received at least one dose (80.6% of the total population) and 53.4 million are fully vaccinated (79.3%), according to figures from the Ministry of health.

Last week, Jean-François Delfraissy, the president of the Scientific Council, indicated that he expected by the end of May a drop in contamination of around 5 to 10,000 cases per day.
