The fifth wave of the Sars-Cov-2 pandemic has been experiencing a small rebound for several days, while the frequency of Covid reinfections has increased markedly since December and the emergence of Omicron, the Public Health agency said on Friday. France.

A total of 22,251 patients were hospitalized with a Covid diagnosis on Sunday, compared to 20,606 seven days before.

1,539 patients in critical care

Among them, 1,539 patients are in critical care (+37 admissions in one day), against 1,486 the previous Sunday. In total, the pandemic caused 142,506 deaths in France.

In addition, the number of new contaminations reached 102,266 cases, against 110,174 a week earlier. The seven-day average, which is more statistically significant, is however up sharply to 138,325 cases against 127,488 a week earlier.

Finally, the positivity rate, which designates the proportion of positive cases out of the number of tests carried out, remains at 31.1%, a figure still close to the records observed since the start of the pandemic.
