With the start of the Christmas holidays, many French people have planned to meet up to spend the holidays, and the risks of transmission of Covid-19 will increase. The Scientific Council chaired by Jean-François Delfraissy called on the government to take new restrictive measures, which Jean Castex announced on Friday evening in particular with the vaccine pass. But the Council is concerned about the vigilance of the French during the holidays. On Europe 1, infectious disease specialist Benjamin Davido affirms his confidence in the French.
“Everyone is trying to do their best”
“The French will pay attention in a general way during the holidays”, says the infectious disease specialist and director Covid-19 at the Raymond-Poincaré hospital in Garches, near Paris, at the microphone of Thierry Dagiral. “The end of the year holidays are something precious. What I am convinced is that everyone is trying to do the best of course”, he adds in the show Europe Midi.
Benjamin Davido discusses the complexity of mastering the virus. “We would have preferred to say that we needed two doses (of vaccine), or even three, but it’s more complicated than that. I think we have to prepare, after this period of rest and celebrations, to have again fight the virus in 2022, and I’m sure we’ll get there, “he says. For this, the infectious disease specialist highlights the mass vaccination and the tests that he advises the French to do before finding their loved ones.
