Invited on Europe Matin Monday, the epidemiologist and teacher-researcher Pascal Crépey, said that hospital saturation is inevitable in the south of France.

“When we look at the hospital blood pressure figures, we see that the south of France is already in a very difficult position. In Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, they have already reached 99% of their initial resuscitation capacity and have already started transferring patients to other regions, ”he noted. “Auvergne Rhône-Alpes is not much better since they are above 80%, and in the PACA region we are already reaching historic highs in terms of incidence since we exceed 1%”, a he continued.

“Very disturbing”

For the teacher-researcher, the current situation is unprecedented. “We are at more than 1,000 contaminations per 100,000, which had never been observed until then. So we are not ready to go down immediately. And it is indeed very worrying”, the specialist was alarmed. .
