Coyote has unveiled the Coyote Max, an advanced driving assistance device that enhances user experience with improved visual and auditory alerts. Featuring a 4-inch IPS touchscreen and a powerful 8-core processor, it offers real-time updates on speed limits and nearby users. The device also includes eco-friendly materials and various mounting options. Priced at €300, a subscription is required for full functionality, with options ranging from €15 monthly to €360 for two years.
Introducing the Coyote Max: A New Era in Driving Assistance
Last week, Coyote users, including us, were treated to an exciting preview through an in-app advertisement announcing the launch of the Coyote Max, the latest innovation from this French company. Established in 2005, Coyote initially captivated drivers with its community-driven radar warning system, distinguishing itself from illegal radar detectors.
Over the years, the brand has contributed significantly to the evolution of “driving assistance,” a term that gained traction in 2011 when radar warning systems were granted permission by the Ministry of the Interior to signal both permanent and temporary danger zones, rather than just fixed and mobile radars.
A Unique Experience with Enhanced Features
In an effort to stand out against popular apps like Waze, which also provides community warnings, Coyote has committed to enhancing its user experience with the Coyote Max. This latest device promises to deliver distinctive visual and auditory alerts, creating a more immersive driving experience.
The Coyote Max introduces a revamped interface that clearly separates the speed limit, the number and proximity of “scouts” (fellow users ahead), and the vehicle’s actual speed. A key feature is the gradual alert system: as drivers approach the “control” area, alerts intensify in color, sound, and screen flashing, offering a more intuitive warning mechanism.
Additionally, the alerts have been redesigned, now including a new lane control alert for carpool lanes, taxis, electric vehicles, and more, alongside the usual warnings for radars, dangerous turns, and other road hazards.
Modern Hardware and Eco-Friendly Design
The Coyote Max also showcases a significant hardware upgrade. It boasts a vibrant 4-inch IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 800 × 480 pixels, powered by an 8-core processor that is four times more powerful than its predecessor, the Coyote Up. With 6 GB of RAM, a multi-constellation receiver supporting both American GPS and European Galileo, a 4G modem, and dual microphones for a new voice assistant, this device is built for the modern driver. Although the battery life is modest at 2 hours, it comes with three new magnetic mounts for easy installation on dashboards, air vents, or windshields, and features a USB-C port for charging.
In a commendable move towards sustainability, Coyote has implemented eco-friendly practices, using a glass screen, 100% recycled plastic for the casing, and packaging made from recycled materials.
Pricing and Subscription Details
The Coyote Max is currently available in France and Belgium through all Coyote stores, the official website, and select retailers, including Amazon and Norauto, priced at €300. To access its full functionalities, users will need a subscription, which costs €15 per month with a one-year commitment, or €180 for a year, or €360 for two years (without discounts). The various mounts are priced between €30 to €35, and a 12V charger is available for €25.
