Crash Bandicoot returns in a competitive 4v4 game

The most famous long-nosed peramel – or wombat – in video games (it’s not very difficult by the way) will have the honors of a competitive multiplayer game this summer. Activision has just announced the release of Crash Team Rumble on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.

Broadly speaking, it’s about bringing back to base the most wumpa fruits (which everyone took for apples in the different opuses of Crash Bandicoot) while preventing the opposing team from doing the same and defending their base. For the moment, we know that three classes will be playable (blocker, booster and marker) and that the great figures of the license will be there. Thus we will find Crash, of course, but also his nemesis, Doctor Neo Cortex, his fiancée Tawna and some more secondary characters like Coco and Dingodile.

Mortal Wombat

This isn’t the first time Crash has strayed off the marked trails. In 2003, in Crash Team Racing, he put his hairy little behind in the tub of a kart, like a plethora of video game heroes (Sonic, Donkey Kong — well, Diddy Kong —…) or cartoons (Disney, Nickelodeon , Looney Tunes…) at the time. We have to believe that the experiment was a success since its remake, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueledwas released in 2019. We wish the same success to Crash Team Rumbleeven if it will have a hard time facing well-established competitors, such as Fortnite who fights in another category, of course, but whose success is undeniable.

Crash Team Rumble must land in our latitudes on June 20. An open beta should take place from April 20 to 24 for fans who will pre-order their copy: several versions will also be available, more or less well supplied with season passes and other ingame advantages. This test phase will notably make it possible to test the cross-platform functionalities of the title.
