Crashed 30 meters – missing e-biker (73) found dead in Tyrol


It has been a sad certainty since Monday: The pensioner who set out on a tour in Waidring on Sunday on his e-bike and has not returned home since then is dead. Search teams found him on Monday morning.

According to the police, the 73-year-old from Kirchberg in Tirol set out on a bike tour in the Waidring area on Sunday afternoon with his e-bike. Since he did not report to his wife by evening and could not be reached by phone, a major search was started in the Lofer and Waidring area.

Helicopters are also in use
The mission had to be aborted at 1.30 a.m. without any results.

In the new search carried out on Monday, the 73-year-old could only be found dead in the area of ​​the hiking trail from the Wemeteigenalm to the Stallenalm around 9.45 a.m. Obviously he was walking on the hiking trail with his e-bike and fell 30 meters over steep, rocky terrain, sustaining fatal injuries.

During the search, the Waidring mountain rescue service with 12 men and four dog handlers with search dogs, the Lofer mountain rescue service with 16 men, the Unken mountain rescue service with 8 men, the Libelle Salzburg, the Lofer fire brigade with 2 men as well as police officers and alpine police officers were on duty.
