The first Creative Arts Emmys were awarded in Los Angeles on Saturday. The big winner of the evening was “The Last of Us”.

Before the Emmys are awarded next weekend (January 15th) there is still time to go It’s the turn of the Creative Arts Emmys. They will be given away over two days this weekend at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. With a total of eight awards, the first evening was particularly successful for the makers and cast of the HBO series “The Last of Us”.

First Emmy for Nick Offerman

The series received awards for, among other things, make-up, visual effects, sound and image. Two of the awards also went to actors Nick Offerman (53) and Storm Reid (20) in the category “Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series”. It was Offerman’s first Emmy and he has already been nominated four times.

The series “The Bear”, “Wednesday” and “The White Lotus” won four awards each, while “Beef” secured three awards.

Ed Sheeran and Judith Light awarded

Ed Sheeran (32) received his first Emmy for Ted Lasso’s “A Beautiful Game” in the “Original Music and Lyrics” category. Judith Light (74) also received awards as a guest actor for her role as Irene Smothers in “Poker Face” – also her first Emmy – and Sam Richardson (39) for his role as Edwin Akufo in “Ted Lasso”.

On Sunday the focus is on categories in the areas of reality, non-fiction and variety. The Creative Arts Emmys recognize artistic and technical achievements across a variety of television genres, including animated, reality, variety and documentary series and specials.
