Crime scene single-family home – police investigate burglar duo in Steyr

Two young men (18, 19) apparently wanted to strike twice at the same crime scene within a few months in Steyr. While the first break-in was successful, the second coup failed because of a robust door. The suspects have now been investigated.

Between August 9 and August 12, 2021, strangers broke into an uninhabited house in Steyr. Around 20 euros in cash, a charging cable including an adapter for a smartphone, a sack of charcoal and two cans of an energy drink were stolen.

Suspects investigated
On the afternoon of October 27, 2021, two young men came to the house again, with one attempting to force open the door. But that failed. Due to extensive investigations, the two suspects were able to be traced by the police.

confession
An 18-year-old accused from Steyr confessed at the interrogation that he had committed the break-in in August and the break-in attempt on October 27th. A 19-year-old from Steyr was investigated as an accomplice, who is said to have been present at the break-in attempt on October 27, 2021. This has so far denied the allegations. The two men were reported to the public prosecutor.
