Criminal tropics: is the series still filmed in Martinique?

Series Criminal Tropics is back this Friday, October 7 at 9 p.m. on France 2 with the broadcast of episodes 3 and 4 of season 3. Last week, for the launch of this third season, nearly 5 million viewers attended the first two episodes, thus allowing France 2 to rank at the top of the evening’s audiences, far ahead of Dance with the Stars. And the answer is yes. Season 3 of Criminal Tropics, currently broadcast on France 2, was indeed shot in Martinique, despite a controversy that disrupted its production upstream. Indeed, in May 2021, a few weeks before the start of filming, territorial elected officials voted against a grant of 500,000 euros granted for the filming of this season 3.

“After having already paid 1.1 million euros over two years, we are ready to offer another 500,000 euros to an external co-production, whereas since the start of the health crisis, Martinican artists, all disciplines combined, have not benefited as aid only 350,000 euros from the community?, wondered in particular the Martinican deputy Jean-Philippe Nilor who also deplored, among our colleagues from 20 Minutes, the image that the series gives of the island of the Antilles. The filming of this season 3, marked by the presence of many guests, finally took place without incident. The filming of season 4 has even already taken place, last April, without controversy, this time.
