Criticism of the course of the 53-year-olds: Linke in Soest announces Wagenknecht’s citizens’ office

Criticism of the course of the 53-year-olds
Linke in Soest terminates Wagenknecht’s citizens’ office

The left-wing member of the Bundestag Sahra Wagenknecht maintains a citizens’ office in Soest. To do this, she has rented a place in a local office of the party. But the district association is now terminating the contract and referring to its political course.

The Linke district association in Soest, North Rhine-Westphalia, Sahra Wagenknecht puts out the door. The district party conference decided at the weekend to terminate the sublease contract for the citizens’ office of the Bundestag deputies. The decision was unanimous with one abstention. Wagenknecht has rented a room in the district office with her citizens’ office. She should also remove a reference to her office from her website.

According to the information, the reason for the step is that Wagenknecht “regularly distances himself publicly from the positions and decisions of the Left Party”. The 53-year-old has fallen out with the party leadership around chairmen Janine Wissler and Martin Schirdewan and is considering founding her own party. So far, she has left open whether she wants to found a party herself. The former parliamentary group leader wants to make the decision by the end of the year.

Wagenknecht was back in parliament in the 2021 federal election in first place on the North Rhine-Westphalia state list. At the beginning of the month, the party executive decided to break away from Wagenknecht and asked her to give up her seat in the Bundestag. She refused. “Especially since the board decision on Saturday, many have written to me that they are outraged and voted for the left in the last federal election because of me,” she told the “Spiegel”.

Wagenknecht said she announced months ago that she would not run for the left again. In this respect, the statement by the party executive that there is no common future has little “news value” for them. “Instead of working on me, the party leadership should have dealt with the question of why voters have been running away from the left for years.”
