Scholz finds climate adhesive “completely crazy”

The last generation regularly draws the wrath of motorists with their actions – primarily in Berlin. But even politicians are not very enthusiastic about the adhesive actions of climate activists. Chancellor Scholz now finds harsh words.
Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz has sharply criticized the sticking actions of climate demonstrators of the last generation. “I think it’s completely crazy to somehow stick to a picture or on the street,” said Scholz in a school in Kleinmachnow, Brandenburg. He has the impression that it doesn’t help anyone to change their mind, but above all it annoys everyone. “This is an action that I don’t think will help,” said Scholz.
The Last Generation group regularly draws attention to the consequences of climate change with sit-ins and actions in museums. Members often get stuck on the streets. Berlin’s new Justice Senator Felor Badenberg is currently examining whether the climate group is a criminal organization.
The life and everyday life of the people in Berlin are significantly affected and sometimes endangered by the activities of the climate demonstrators, said Badenberg. “It is therefore important to exhaust all legal options, and that includes the question of whether the Last Generation is a ‘criminal organization’.” The Berlin public prosecutor’s office had so far seen no evidence of this.
On the other hand, investigations are already underway in neighboring Brandenburg against the climate group on suspicion of forming a criminal organization. The background to the proceedings at the Neuruppin public prosecutor’s office is, among other things, attacks by activists on the PCK Schwedt refinery since April 2022. The Potsdam Regional Court recently also saw an initial suspicion that the Last Generation could be a criminal organization.
