Cro: Germany is currently not his home for the rapper

Cro is back with new music. He also stated in an interview that Bali is currently his home and not Germany.

Mask rapper Cro (30) made an impressive return with his single "Fall Auf" a few days ago. Now Carlo Waibel, his real name, gave an interview and spoke in the podcast "Hyped Radio" on Apple Music about his current time in Bali and gave an outlook on the coming weeks and months. Cro also revealed: A mask will continue to cover his face.

Since his last studio album "tru." From 2017 it became a little quiet about the Swabian who recently withdrew to Bali, which apparently did him good: "I thought I had come to Bali and found myself. But that was such nonsense." The stay on the Indonesian island brought him back: "If you have everything – a full bank account, big houses, cars, awards and women – then you lose the ground."

Although he always talked about not having answered the phone, but: "I think I was the full pot, even if unconsciously." A return to Germany does not seem to be planned, at least in the foreseeable future. "Yes, I would say that I currently live here. It is currently more my home than Germany," explains Cro when asked. He also developed musically there, and even learned to play the guitar in quarantine.

His mask remains

His trademark mask – in the latest video for "Fall Auf", the well-known panda masquerade softened into a Yoda-like face covering – will also be part of his public appearances in the future. "For me that's part of it," explains Cro, "behind it all is Carlo, he's the guy without a mask. But if I were to appear as Cro without a mask, then I'd be Carlo". That wouldn't suit him. Nevertheless, he had released himself from the panda bear: "In the future it will be wilder and wilder until it becomes a giant masked ball at some point."

His fans can also be happy: In his current interview, Cro has also announced new material for the near future: "I have prepared things, build things for videos and have songs." He doesn't want to reveal more at the moment, but: "I'll make sure that I make this messed-up year of shit a better one."
