Crochet dress: This is how we style the summer it-piece on cool days

Romy Schneider wore it, Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin and even today it belongs in every fashionista's wardrobe as the ultimate summer garment: the crochet dress. We'll show you how the touch of nothing cuts a fine figure even in autumn.

There are pieces of clothing that we wear up and down and then forget about them in the shallows of our closet for a few years, if not decades. The crochet dress was spared this fate. By the annual festival season at the latest, the it-piece was dug up again – until this year. Perhaps it is due to Corona and the correspondingly canceled events that the fashion classic is currently getting a new edition: In muted colors and midi to maxi lengths, the crocheted dress says goodbye to the girly image and grows up – perfect to wear for the first time in autumn.

This is how we wear crochet clothes

The summer classic

Instead of being provocative and ultra-transparent like the Coachella girls, we now wear our crochet dress in a midi or maxi version. In summer we still prefer to go for the classic white or cream color – nothing looks nicer on tanned skin.

With elegant accessories and in combination with a top and shorts, the crochet dress no longer looks too naked – perfect for a cool everyday look or for a summer party in the open air. Scandi blogger Annabel Rosendahl provides us with the ultimate outfit inspo.

For those who like it a little sexier, opt for a skin-colored body instead of shorts – they don't stand out under their dress. Oh la la…

For fashion girls

British fashionistas like blue-blooded Amelia Windsor love the sustainable label Cro-Che. Their bestsellers: girlish mini crochet dresses in bright colors. All dresses are handmade and therefore have their price (Amelia's model costs 250 euros). But you also play in the top fashion league with the 60s-inspired pieces. Our styling tip: So that the outfit doesn't get too little girlish, we break the look by combining the dress with trendy accessories such as bucket hats, boots or sneakers. Hair and make-up can be as natural as possible. On cool days we simply go for the long-sleeved version.

In the autumn

Ok … we are in love! With these great crochet dresses in midi length, we're almost looking forward to the cooler days. With their cut and color, the dresses are true fashion all-rounders and fit just as well in the office as they do with the data night. We can particularly well imagine the pretty dresses in 70s optics with overknee boots or rough cowboy boots. All that's missing is a noble wool coat and we're ready for autumn!

What do you say? Do you still use the flower power variant or can the crochet dress be a bit more elegant? In any case, we are sure: Even style icon Jane Birkin would be jealous of the new models!
