The Norwegian Crown Prince couple Haakon and Mette-Marit are visiting Germany. He has already landed and his wife will join him later.

Crown Prince Haakon (50) landed in Germany on November 6th with a delegation for a four-day state visit. The Norwegian royal will visit several German cities until November 9th. This Monday, immediately after landing in Munich, he was received by Florian Herrmann (51, CSU), the head of the Bavarian State Chancellery.

Prime Minister Markus Söder (56) greeted Haakon with a “Welcome to Bavaria”. including on Instagram. They are happy about the visit, but Söder was not able to greet the Crown Prince personally because he was taking part in the Prime Minister’s Conference with Chancellor Olaf Scholz (65) in Berlin. He also wishes “the Crown Prince a pleasant stay in Bavaria.” Meanwhile, Herrmann explainedit is “a special pleasure and honor that the Crown Prince is starting his visit to Germany in the Free State.”

What’s next for Haakon?

According to media reports, a banquet is planned for the evening. Tomorrow, Tuesday, Haakon will continue to Hamburg. There the Crown Prince is received in the town hall by, among others, Hamburg’s first mayor Peter Tschentscher (57), as the NDR reports. In addition to a conference on Wednesday, the plan also includes a harbor tour.

That’s why Mette-Marit comes to Germany later

Crown Princess Mette-Marit (50) will join them in Berlin on the last day of the visit to Germany. In advance of the trip had the royal has already explained to the “Bild” newspaper, why his wife won’t be there on all four days. “She has to make sure that she doesn’t put too much strain on her health. That’s why we decided on Berlin. I will attend the appointments in Hamburg and Munich alone,” confirmed Haakon. Mette-Marit suffers from pulmonary fibrosis. “She has chronic lung disease. Of course that affects her. But she also has good days and can still do a lot,” said Haakon.

The court had already announced in September that the crown prince couple would also like to meet Scholz and Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (67) during the trip – which is planned for the last day of the trip. In Berlin they will also attend a commemoration of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
