At the forefront in the field of PCIe 5.0 SSDs, Crucial (brand of the American giant Micron) introduced a few months ago an M.2 strip capable of reaching a speed of 12 GB/s… far exceeding the performance that PCIe 4.0 SSDs can claim, even at the high end. However, the brand is going even further at the start of the year, with its new “T705” bar. This time reaching 14.5 GB/s, the latter becomes the fastest ever launched by Crucial… and one of the most impressive SSDs on the market to date.

In this case, the T705 relies both on 232-layer 3D TLC NAND chips from Micron, and on a PS5026-E26 SSD controller from Phison. Enough to offer sequential read and write speeds reaching 14,500 MB/s and 12,700 MB/s respectively, underlines the specialist site Overclock3D.

An ultra-fast SSD, available in three capacities

Expected from all good resellers from March 12, the new Crucial SSD will be available in three different capacities: 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB, we read. It can also be purchased with or without a heat sink, and a 2 TB version with a white heat sink (visible above) will also be available, but only in a limited edition. Whatever version you choose, this Crucial T705 strip will finally be eligible for a 5-year warranty.

The T705 SSD will be available in capacities up to 4TB and feature a premium black aluminum and copper heatsink “, explains Crucial in its press release, also evoking a “ backwards compatible with Gen 3 and Gen 4 motherboards ”, as well as support for the Microsoft DirectStorage API, helping to boost in-game performance.

A version without a heatsink will also be available for use with a motherboard heatsink », continues the brand. “ For a limited time and while supplies last, a 2TB Crucial T705 Gen 5 SSD with exclusive white heatsink will also be available », we finally read.
