Cruelty to animals in Upper Austria – seriously injured cats left to their fate

A dismayed animal lover found a cat in disastrous condition at the weekend and brought it to the “Pfotenhilfe” animal shelter in the Upper Austria / Salzburg border region. There she was treated immediately and then taken straight to the veterinary clinic.

In the cat, one eye was already so destroyed by the untreated cat flu that it could only be removed surgically, an unserved, not fresh leg fracture, in which the bone protruded – apparently mowed – ended in a leg amputation, and a huge wound on the stomach had to be to be sewn.

According to the finder, the cat comes from a nearby farm, where countless other uncastrated, sick cats are vegetating, which is why the case was immediately reported to the authorities.

Operation successful – but how many animals still have to suffer?
“Leaving a cat so sick and seriously injured in the lurch is unbelievable! After the extensive treatment, she is now being cared for at home with me because she needs intensive care, ”says Pfotenhilfe boss Johanna Stadler. “The castration obligation must finally be rigorously controlled and the counterproductive exceptions deleted. This is one of the most pressing problems that Animal Welfare Minister Mückstein has to address. So much suffering arises here every day – the animals and we just can’t wait any longer! “
