Cruise professional with hot savings tip “for everyone who wants to travel intelligently”

Enthusiastic cruiser Lauren Mack explains in “Business Insider“ her preference for inside cabins on cruise ships. After more than 25 trips, she is convinced that booking an inside cabin is the smarter choice for travelers.

“For those who want to travel smarter”

According to the cruise veteran, inside cabins are usually the cheapest option. In addition, the lack of a balcony or window motivates you to explore the ship and its numerous offerings. She says that although she initially booked balcony rooms out of habit, she got a taste for an inside cabin thanks to a cheap last-minute offer.

Although a balcony or window may seem more attractive at first glance, she argues that you rarely spend much time in the cabin on cruises. In her estimation, most passengers only spend a few hours on the balcony, which does not justify the extra cost of an outside cabin. Mack is certain: “Inside cabins on cruises are for those who want to travel smarter.”

Special gadgets: “Magic portholes” and “virtual balconies”

The travel blogger points out that interior cabins are often just as large, if not larger, than rooms with windows. They also have spectacular features that are not found in outside cabins. She points to examples such as Disney Cruise Lines, which have equipped their interior cabins with “magic” portholes, and Royal Caribbean, where some interior cabins have floor-to-ceiling virtual “balconies.”

Another plus point, Mack says, is that the savings she makes by booking inside cabins mean she can take more cruises. She also mentions the possibility of a free upgrade to a balcony cabin if the ship is not fully booked.

Check the location of the inside cabin carefully when booking

Inside cabins offer an additional advantage for seasick guests. Travelers on their first cruise are often afraid that their dream cruise will be disrupted by nausea caused by the constant swaying. These guests are best accommodated in a cabin in the middle of the ship. The waves are less noticeable there than at the edges.

You should also always pay attention to the neighboring rooms when booking. Very few guests want to have a disco, bar or kids club next to their cabin. Cabins located at the rear are also often noisy due to their proximity to the engines.
