Crypto.com with further sports sponsorship – this time in football

Crypto.com is serious about sports sponsorship. After the renaming of the Staples Center now follows the sponsorship of a women’s soccer team in Los Angeles.

Singapore-based crypto exchange Crypto.com has announced an exclusive four-year deal with Angel City Football Club (ACFC) from Los Angeles. The Sports business journal reported, citing unspecified sources, that the deal was “in the low seven-digit range per year”.

In the meantime, sponsoring football clubs by crypto investors is no longer uncommon. However, the report claims that the deal marks the first direct sponsorship of a professional women’s sports team by a major cryptocurrency platform. Crypto.com says it hopes the sponsorship deal will increase access to and awareness of cryptocurrencies, blockchain and Web 3.0 technologies among LA soccer fans, ACFC players and across the ACFC organization.

In addition to the company Crypto.com, the founding members are Oscar winner Natalie Portman, tennis player Serena Williams and actresses Jennifer Garner and Eva Longoria. YouTuber Casey Neistat and 15 former members of the US national soccer team will also be there.

The deal follows the announcement of a 20-year agreement with the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) who made the famous Staples Center in Los Angeles in Crypto.com Arena renamed. According to media reports the deal will cost the exchange $ 700 million. That makes the stock exchange one of the biggest sponsors in the history of sport. The ACFC is expected to play its first games in the renamed arena in 2022, making its debut.
