Investing.com – Renowned economist Nouriel Roubini has always been one of the most vocal critics of cryptocurrencies: he has called it a “bullshit currency”, derided it as a currency worth less than nothing and even dismissed blockchain technology as a whole, saying it was “no better than a spreadsheet.”
Today, media reports that Roubini is launching his own cryptocurrency, reports DeCrypt. It is called Atlas Climate Token (TYO:) and is backed by a portfolio of liquid assets.
This important step was quick to attract criticism. One of them comes from Binance co-founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao.
“Some people are shameless,” Mr. Zhao, who also goes by CZ, wrote in a post on Twitter (NYSE:).
“After publicly attacking Binance a year ago, [Roubini] is now issuing a token and placing the Binance logo on their website WITHOUT authorization,” Zhao claimed on Twitter.
Since Zhao posted his tweet, Atlas Capital, Roubini’s crypto startup, has removed the logos of all external companies from its “Team” page, including that of Binance.
