Ledger wallet holders now have a new feature at their disposal: buy Bitcoin and Ether directly via PayPal. Thanks to an update to Ledger Live, Ledger’s platform dedicated to the purchase of cryptocurrencies with traditional currencies, users now have the option of connecting their PayPal account, simplifying their transactions.
Ledger partners with PayPal to make crypto purchases easier
The company specializing in physical wallets (hardware wallet), Ledger, partnered with payment giant PayPal to offer users the ability to purchase cryptocurrency directly on its Ledger Live app using their PayPal accounts. This collaboration was jointly announced by the two companies on Wednesday August 16th.
The app Ledger Live allows users to buy cryptocurrency with traditional currencies and then directly transfer those tokens to their hardware wallet. With this recent integration of PayPal, the procedure becomes even simpler: users can now connect their PayPal account to the app without requiring additional verification.
In this regard, Pascal Gaithier, CEO of Ledger, said:
“We combine Ledger’s uncompromising security with PayPal’s leadership in secure payment technology to deliver a seamless platform for users’ crypto transactions. While Ledger is committed to simplifying the world of cryptocurrency, PayPal is working to making the flow of money as simple, reliable and affordable as possible.”
Available Cryptocurrencies and PayPal’s Crypto Impulse
Currently, Ledger Live offers French users a variety of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tezos, and Polkadot.
The announcement of this collaboration with Ledger is another step forward for PayPal in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Indeed, earlier this month, the payments giant also launched its own stablecoinPayPal USD (PYUSD), with the aim of helping the growth of digital payments.
Buying Bitcoins via PayPal: how does it work?
PayPal has become, over the years, a popular tool for buying bitcoins. It is now possible to buy bitcoins directly from a PayPal account.
However, it should be noted that this is not a direct purchase from the PayPal platform. Indeed, users must go through an application like Ledger Live or a peer-to-peer exchange platform such as kraken to make this purchase using their PayPal account.
