Rumors around the possible transition from CS:GO to Source 2 engineAlready used in DotA 2 or even Half Lyfe Alyx, have been circulating the net for years, but so far none of them seemed plausible. However, thanks to the CS:GO player @AquaIsMissing on Twitterwe now have the first images porting some of the title’s most famous maps to the Source 2 game engine.
I got some exciting news!
Both myself and @_ale_cs can confirm that some of the well-known @CSGO maps have been worked on for the Source 2 port this week!
How? Some devs were spotted on maps with a Source 2 naming, like “de_mapname_s2”. pic.twitter.com/AW9VYvR5tM

As proof, Valve’s title fan showed a screenshot pointing to the name of the cardswhich the player preferred not to reveal, which ends with the prefix “_s2”. According to the author of this rumour, this prefix symbolizes map optimization for the new Source 2 engine. A little later, the user shared a list of cards, including the transition to the Source 2 engine is in progress or complete.
Over the span of several months, 6 maps with a Source 2 naming have been found using this method.

For security reasons, he does not name the people who provided him with this information. However, he has explained one of these methods to discover this information. This is a feature related feature “Improved Enriched Presence” from Steam.
And the method used to gather this information is the following: https://t.co/bOyLBSviKe
For some unknown reason you can actually request @Steam Rich Presence for the @CSGO Beta Dev with the appid 710.
I will not go into the details tho, do the research yourself.
