CSGO is already doing better in January 2023 than all of 2022 and 2021 – CSGO

Counter-Strike has been the benchmark for the tactical FPS genre for several decades. The latest opus, CSGO, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year, is still as popular as ever, and is even more so than last year, in terms of simultaneous players.

If it has very often experienced a few dips, which remains logical for a production of such longevity, since the start of the COVID-19 period and the confinements, the FPS has literally exploded, passing the one million concurrent user mark in March 2020, for the first time. Since then, this peak has stabilized between 850,000 and 1.1 million, more than respectable statistics, placing it among the most popular Steam games. But while some might have thought that the community would get tired, it is not, quite the contrary.

As we can see on Steam Charts, the highest peak reached in January 2023 is 1,199,684 players. If we look more carefully, no peak was so important in 2022, and we even have to go back to April 2020 to find such a performance of CSGO. However, this renewed interest in the FPS is not really explainable, given that there has been no major update or significant competition, if not the BLAST Premier: Spring Groups. In November, we still had the Rio Major, which probably allowed some to get back into CSGO.

2023 could therefore be a big year for the franchise, with the record of 1,305,714 concurrent players likely to be broken.. With a Major planned in France, in Paris, from May 8 to 21, it is quite possible that many French neophytes will be interested in CSGO, which will be widely promoted in the spring. Moreover, if you are a beginner, we give you some advice for choosing the right crosshair.
