Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine and the invasion of the Russian armed forces the sanctions against the government flourish. Political, economic, sporting… The punishments multiply and many collateral victims are affected. But the reactions are not only negative in nature. Many gestures of solidarity are also carried out around the world. Lately it’s the CS:GO scene via the Louvre Agreement (ESL and several big CS:GO teams) who released the blue card to support the suffering Ukrainian people.
$125,000 for a good cause
ESL and some big CS:GO teams (Vitality, G2, FaZe Clan, Fnatic…) have paid the tidy sum of 125,000 dollars to help civilians affected by the war. Without giving details, the press release indicates that organizations such as the Red Cross or Amnesty International will receive these funds, which will undoubtedly be very useful in view of the situation. A player like s1mple had already made a significant donation, but it was surely more expected as the star sniper is Ukrainian.
Even if some consider that esport and politics do not go well together, we can only welcome this solidarity initiative. We are also not surprised to see ESL take a stand: for the ESL Pro League, the organizers have notably decided to ban Russian structures such as Virtus Pro (who will participate under the Outsiders tag) or Gambit.
