A woman accuses Cuba Gooding Jr. of raping her ten years ago. Now the trial against the actor has begun.

Cuba Gooding Jr. (55) has to answer in court. According to US media, civil proceedings against the actor have begun in New York. A woman accuses the “Jerry Maguire” star of raping her ten years ago. Gooding is said to have met the woman in a restaurant. Then he is said to have lured her into his hotel room because he wanted to change. There he is said to have forced the plaintiff to have sex.

According to the Oscar winner’s lawyers, the sex was consensual. The woman then boasted to others that she slept with a celebrity. The lawsuit is for $6 million in damages.

30 women accuse Cuba Gooding of sexual assault

The allegations now being heard in court are not the first against Cuba Gooding Jr., according to reports, 30 women are said to have accused the actor of sexual assault. He is said to have touched and kissed her without being asked. Three of the women will testify against him in the rape trial.

In early 2022, Cuba Gooding Jr. pleaded guilty to kissing a nightclub waitress without her consent. He also admitted to having groped women in two other cases. Half a year later it was announced that the case had been closed. The actor completed alcohol and behavioral therapy and has been unremarkable since then.

Cuba Gooding Jr. rose to stardom in the early 1990s, including with “Boyz n the Hood.” In 1996 he won the supporting role Oscar for his performance in “Jerry Maguire” alongside Tom Cruise (60). After that, his career went downhill.
