No one expected this announcement! This iconic character from Disney films will make his return in just a few months.

You probably know Vaiana: The Legend of the End of the World, as this Disney production is now one of the classics of the American firm. Inspired by Polynesian mythology, this film introduced magnificent landscapes as well as new characters to a very wide audience. One of them is also voiced by Dwayne Johnson. More precisely, he embodies the demi-God Maui and even goes so far as to sing songs, notably with cult music “for men” (You’re welcome in the original).

Since the release of this film in 2016, Moana (Moana in original version) has been one of the most popular characters in the Disney universe. It must be said that despite some controversies concerning the representation of Polynesian culture, this feature film was a great worldwide success.. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has an average of 96% from the specialized press and 89% from spectators across the globe. This is why the recent announcement of a sequel delights many people, especially since we won’t have to wait long to discover it! Indeed, it is in 2024, this year that Moana will make her comeback in the middle of vast expanses of water and with the wind in her hair.

Vaiana will be entitled to a sequel

Yesterday, Disney made an announcement that delighted fans: Moana will be getting a second film. It was on X (formerly Twitter) that the firm made this declaration, while giving the precise release date: November 27. It is therefore this year that spectators will be able to discover the continuation of the adventures of this young woman, accompanied by Maui, since Dwayne Johnson will also be back. Originally, it was in the form of a series that Moana fans were supposed to discover her new adventures, but the company ultimately decided to produce an entire feature film.

For the moment, we know that Moana will be called by her ancestors who will take her “to the distant seas of Oceania” and brave dangers. This news comes as a live-action was also announced a few months ago. Like Aladdin, The Lion King or The Little Mermaid, Moana will also be filmed in live action. At the moment, we do not have any further information on this version. In the meantime, you can watch the first film on Disney+.
