In France, we are not left out when it comes to animated series. The acclaimed Arcana was shaped by Fortiche, a Paris-based studio, and is one of the most anticipated Netflix releases of the year. But it’s not just the series adapted from the League of Legends universe that is returning this year. Wakfuthe series produced by Ankama and taking place in the same universe as the game Dofus (Krosmoz) will also welcome its sequel this year. And if this perhaps affects one without moving the other, know that season 4 of the series is particularly anticipated.
For what ? Well because Wakfu is a quality, award-winning animated series, which has gradually gained maturity and left its childish side aside. What’s more, season 3, which left a number of questions unanswered, was released more than six years ago (September 2017). Why so much waiting? Well, because the production of season 4, the final season of the series, was not always obvious. Ankama searched for funding and a broadcaster for a long time. In May 2020, the company finally decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign for season 4 of Wakfu. HASWith its 17,889 contributors, the project managed to raise no less than €1,522,816. But according to the teams, this only represents 25% of the season’s budget. This shows the ambitions that have been placed on the project. And we will soon be able to see if the game was worth it.
After the destructive battle against Oropo, but also against their own demons, Yugo and his friends find themselves at the gates of Ingloriom, the kingdom of the Gods. If the Kickstarter campaign announced a release around June 2024, it is ultimately a little earlier than that than season 4 of Wakfu will disembark. Okoo has indeed revealed a trailer with a release date: February 9, 2024. But what is Okoo, you ask me? You may not know it, but it is the children’s program from France TV (formerly Zouzous and Ludo). It is also a free application from France TV which brings together different adapted programs, and all without advertising. Yes, that means that season 4 of Wakfu will be available for free!
To be honest, this isn’t really surprising. Series Wakfu has maintained a beautiful romance with France Télévisions since its beginnings. The first two seasons were released on France 3 at the time, while the third was broadcast on France 4.
