In 2024, the animation studio DreamWorks returns in force with Kung Fu Panda 4, but also a new original project carried by an exceptional cast: The Wild Robot.

The Year of DreamWorks

This year is more than promising for fans of mainstream animated films. Alongside Disney, DreamWorks is back in force in 2024 with three projects. The first, Orion’s Night, was already released on Netflix on February 2. The second is the return of the most famous panda of cinema with Kung Fu Panda 4 in theaters from March 27. Finally, and this is the project that interests us today, The Wild Robot which is planned for this fall.

Why should we follow Le Robot Sauvage closely? First for its director, Chris Sanders, a true industry veteran behind Lilo and Stitch, Dragons or The Croods. But The Wild Robot has more than one ace up its sleeve and its casting is also a more than convincing argument.

A poetic and futuristic fable with an exceptional cast

The Wild Robot is taken from the eponymous novel by Peter Brown and should tell us the story of ROZZUM unit 7134 aka “Roz”, a robot which has just washed up on an uninhabited island. To survive, Roz will have to adapt to her new environment and form bonds with the animals of the forest. A poetic and futuristic animated film, an ecological pamphlet reminiscent of The Iron GiantBrad Bird’s masterpiece released in 1999.

Spectators have already been treated to a brief glimpse of the enchanting universe of the film with a first trailer shared by Universal Pictures (available in the player at the top of the article). A trailer almost without dialogue, a fairly intriguing promotion when we see the exceptional cast that DreamWorks has brought together for this feature film. Thus, we find here Lupita Nyong’o, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, Kit Connor, Stephanie Hsu, Mark Hamill, Matt Berry and even Ving Rhames. We also note the presence of Pedro Pascal who should play the role of Fink, the fox seen in the trailer who already presents himself as one of the main characters. Enough to breathe for the Chilean actor who must now continue with season two of The Last of Us, but also and above all his participation in the Marvel film Fantastic Four. In essence, we are dealing here with an exceptional project, an appointment in theaters not to be missed on October 9.
