Disney is determined to fully restore the image of its flagship science fiction saga, and this involves reconquering cinemas. Several films intended for cinema are currently in development. In parallel with The Mandalorian & Grogu, a sequel to the postlogy is being developed with Daisy Ridley in the title role, and she will be paid a fortune to once again play the character of Rey.
A new Star Wars movie
Among the farandole of films announced, canceled, confirmed or oscillating between these three states, two projects seem to be on the right track. Disney and Lucasfilm recently made the sequel to The Mandalorian’s adventures official played by Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, The Last of Us) and his Force-sensitive protégé “Grogu” (aka Baby Yoda for fans). Star Wars: New Jedi Order, which will be released in 2026, follows the events of Star Wars, Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the Star Wars postlogy (The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker), reprises the role that made her famous in Star Wars: New Jedi Order. According to insider Jeff Sneider (The InSneider), the British actress will receive 12.5 million US dollars to star in the film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Daisy Ridley, who we recently saw in Chaos Walking (2021) alongside Tom Holland and The Swamp King’s Daughter (2023), will once again become Rey Skywalker for a Star Wars film by 2026.
