Marvel hit hard with this new series

Since the end of the saga of the Infinity Stones in the cinema, Marvel seems to have difficulty regaining its place in the hearts of spectators. Although they still scored a few points with series like Loki And WandaVision and even with films like Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, it must be admitted that many people no longer really have as much interest in seeing the continuation of the adventures of the superheroes of this stable. Yet, since the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney, certain iconic heroes continue to be awaited. We can of course think of Fantastic 4 who will soon be entitled to their own film, but also to X-Men who are still very discreet.

In a few weeks, this mythical group of mutants will however arrive in the MCU (at least in part) thanks to Deadpool and Wolverine. Apart from this film, fans will however have to be patient to find the students of Professor Xavier’s school on the big screen since no feature film has yet been made official concerning them. Fortunately for the fans, This group is still not entirely sidelined by Disney.

Since March 20, 2024, it is in fact possible to watch the animated series X-Men ’97 on Disney+ at the rate of one episode per week. Designed like a real continuation of the animated series broadcast between 1992 and 1997, this production uses exactly the same design and the same characters, even if it is entirely possible to discover it without having seen the original series. The opportunity to find the flashy costumes of Wolverine, Cyclops and company in a story which quickly convinced both spectators and critics. As we write these lines, the series has aired every episode of its first season and peaks at a critical score of 99% on Rotten Tomatoesmaking it the best Marvel series on Disney+. Note that the spectators also seem very satisfied since their score stands at 94%.

A season 2 already in production, but a change of showrunner

Whether you’ve seen every episode of Season 1 of X-Men ’97 or are waiting to see if it will continue before jumping in, good news! The series broadcast on Disney+ recently formalized its second season in view of its success. Better yet, according to an article on the site Comic book, season 2 is already in production and is currently in the animation phase. Brad Winderbaum, head of Disney’s streaming service, nevertheless wanted to point out that this phase could take some time given the work required. Fortunately, the second season had been confirmed internally even before the first aired, which gave us a bit of a head start.

Be careful though, it is possible that season 2 of X-Men ’97 will be a little different from the first. Indeed, its showrunner Beau DeMayo (also scriptwriter of the series Moon Knight) was excluded from the rest of the project for reasons still unknown. He still had time to participate in the writing of a large part of this new season, but will not be present as a producer or to direct the recordings of the voices, music, design or anything else. it’s something else. We hope that the quality of the series will not suffer.
