Culture news This sci-fi film rated 95% went under the radar in 2022: it is nevertheless one of the best Netflix exclusives
Netflix is now one of the main players in entertainment, author of dozens of exclusive series and films. “They Cloned Tyrone” is nevertheless a very popular feature film, although it has gone somewhat unnoticed.
Clones and the street
We can no longer count the feature films produced directly by Netflix: there are some very good ones and there are some less good ones, enough for the American titan to grab a little bit of everything. In the category of excellent surprises, we can cite “They Cloned Tyrone”, or more simply “They cloned Tyrone” by us, released in 2023. The pitch has the merit of being original: in a difficult American suburb, Fontaine, a drug trafficker, is murdered just after being paid by one of his clients, Slick Charles. The problem is that the next day, Fontaine reappears in the city as if nothing had happened, inevitably causing the astonishment of Slick Charles who was possibly a witness to his murder the day before.
Together, also accompanied by Yo-Yo, a sex worker, they will investigate this very improbable event and discover an unimaginable plot… the ins and outs of which we will obviously keep quiet. Note also that the trio is carried by a nice cast made up of John Boyega (Star Wars), Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris (The Marvels, Candyman), without forgetting the presence of Kiefer Sutherland (24 hours).
A popular film
With its tone that combines action, investigation, science fiction and humor, “They Cloned Tyrone” is one of those films that is good to watch, very good. It is notably directed by Juel Taylor, whose first feature film it is, he who also worked as a screenwriter on major productions like Creed II or By All.
So to speak, on Rotten Tomatoes, the work obtains a splendid average of 95% from 133 reviews. “They Cloned Tyrone is a provocative and intelligent science fiction film with an exceptional cast”we can for example read there. On Metacritic, where cinematic reviews are generally more severe, the average is 74%, also a very good score.
So if you have a Netflix subscription and you have the evening ahead of you, why not take a look?
