Free on the TF1+ platform, this film directed by Bruce Willis is a sort of Squid Game for seniors.

Not a very subtle mix of Squid Game and The Hunger Games but a senior version, Apex is an action and science fiction film released in 2021 which is available today for free on the TF1+ platform for all lovers of the genre. Little known, it is nevertheless worn by some big Hollywood stars, namely Bruce Willis and Neal McDonough in the main roles.

It follows the story of a former police officer, James Malone, sentenced to life in prison for a crime he did not commit before being offered a chance at freedom on the condition of surviving a deadly game of Apex. In the latter, six hunters pay for the pleasure of tracking a human on an isolated island. Only Malone is not a prey like the others and will transform the game into real hell for his hunters. On Rotten Tomatoes, the feature film gets a sad score of 11%, with the press agreeing that Apex is “a cheap, lackluster sci-fi action thriller pits wily prisoner Willis against wealthy hunters in a dull genre throwback.” The public’s score makes up for the disaster a little with a frankly average score of 60%. On Allociné, the spectators’ rating is 1.3/5. But hey, it’s free.

With more than 15,000 hours of programs available, the new TF1+ service presents itself as a free and interesting alternative to current platforms.
