Jessica Alba’s new Netflix project

Jessica Alba is back on our screens with a brand new project under the aegis of Netflix. The American star had distanced herself from cinema for several years before returning to the forefront through television. After several years of absence, the actress is finally back with a leading role in a film called Riposte (Trigger Warning in the original version).

Directed by Indonesian filmmaker Mouly Surya, Riposte tells the story of a former Special Forces member who returns to her hometown in New Mexico after her father is killed in an accident. But as she reconnects with old acquaintances, our heroine gradually realizes that her father’s death may not have been accidental.

A critical disaster

In France, Riposte is currently a hit on Netflix and has risen to the top of the most popular films on the platform. A more than honorable performance, but which nevertheless goes against the criticisms attributed to the feature film.

Thus, on Rotten Tomatoes, Riposte obtained a press score of 19% and a spectator score of 14%. On AlloCiné, the film didn’t do much better even though the public gave it a score of 1.7/5. Catastrophic ratings which leave little room for doubt as to the quality of the film, despite its success on Netflix.

With Riposte, Jessica Alba has managed to do worse than Jennifer Lopez, who also returned to the cinema with Netflix and the film Atlas, released last month, which had then obtained a press score of 19% and a spectator score of 45% on the American aggregator.
