Curfew from Monday
Brandenburg also pulls the emergency brake
After Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Baden-Württemberg, Brandenburg is now also acting: From Monday there will be a night curfew in counties with an incidence of over 100. Schools and daycare centers will also be closed. Prime Minister Woidke is thus bringing forward the planned federal emergency brake.
Brandenburg is tightening the corona rules even before the federal emergency brake: From Monday, an exit restriction between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. is to apply for regions in which the seven-day incidence is over 100 for at least three days. From 200 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a week, all schools in districts or urban cities should be closed, said Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke after the decision of the cabinet.
The SPD politician stated that he saw no alternative to night exit restrictions and school closings when there were high numbers of corona infections. “We have to act now and as soon as possible,” he said. “We cannot and do not want to wait any longer until things are regulated at the federal level, for example.” Exceptions only apply to final classes and special schools for intellectual development. The daycare centers in the regions with an incidence of 200 are also expected to close.
Brandenburg also tightened the right of assembly. With an incidence of 100, up to 500 participants are no longer allowed, but only a maximum of 100. Demos are still prohibited from a regional seven-day incidence of 200.
With the exception of the state capital Potsdam, the city of Brandenburg / Havel and the district of Barnim, all regions in Brandenburg were above the incidence value of 100 on Saturday. Three districts exceeded the incidence of 200. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Baden-Württemberg had previously decided to pull the emergency brake on Monday, i.e. before the adoption at federal level.
