The biggest wish of people in this country is health. A new survey has now shown which dreams come in second.

For people in Germany, the desire to own their own home is more important than finding a partner for life. This is one of the Results of a current study by the financial advisor Swiss Life Select. Over 2,000 people stated what their pension wishes and life dreams were.

Unsurprisingly, the number one dream in life is physical and mental health at 44 percent. This is followed by the opportunity to travel (36 percent) and financial self-determination and independence (34 percent), followed by the desire for free time with family and friends (32 percent).

That’s how important money is to people

Amazing: At 23 percent, finding a life partner is actually one percentage point behind the desire to own a home, which 24 percent of those surveyed have. The dream of owning your own property motivates young adults in particular to seek professional financial advice, as the study also showed. More than half of the participants between the ages of 18 and 34 (58 percent) gave this reason. Stefan Kuehl, sales manager at Swiss Life Select, finds this understandable: “Through real estate, young adults in particular can build their financial stability and thus lay the foundation for a self-determined future.”

According to the survey, being financially self-determined and independent is also the key point for feeling “accomplished in life” for 35 percent of the survey. This is followed by finding a life partner (32 percent) and having children (24 percent) as well as having adequate provisions for old age (22 percent).

People often save not only for their own pension, but also for the next generation. Of the parents surveyed, one in five people (20 percent) stated that they put money aside for their children in a current or current account. 17 percent plan to use their own home as a future inheritance for their children and 13 percent are putting cash aside.
