Unknown perpetrators started several fires on Sunday evening in the area of the former Kirchner barracks in Graz. The professional fire brigade responded, but the damage cannot yet be quantified.
Construction has been going on in Graz Kasernstrasse in the Jakomini district since the end of last year. Apartments, a park, a sports field and an underground car park are to be built. Now unknown arsonists have delayed the construction. Neighbors alerted the police. On Sunday around 11.30 p.m. the police received a report that several unknown perpetrators had apparently set fire to the construction site in the area of the former Kirchner barracks. When the police arrived, a total of three sources of fire were identified which were subsequently extinguished by the Graz professional fire brigade, reports Fritz Grundnig from the Styria State Police Directorate. The amount of material damage caused cannot currently be quantified because the building in question is still under construction. The search for the perpetrators has so far been unsuccessful
