After the first Echo Show (10″ screen), then the Echo Show 5 (5.5″ screen), Amazon is launching the Echo Show 8. Only the diagonal of this smart display exchange. For the rest, the features and overall performance are identical in every way.
The Amazon Echo Show 8 is a good alternative to the small screen of the Show 5 and the large of the second generation Show. If the Echo Show 8 offers similar features to those of the 2nd generation Show, its 8-inch screen is less comfortable for watching movies or series. On the audio side, we always welcome the finesse of the voice recognition and we continue to deplore the poor quality of sound reproduction of the speakers.
Strong points
- Satisfactory screen colorimetry.

- Voice recognition (almost) flawless.
Weak points
- Features still limited: only one VOD service…

For a first assistant with screen, Google pulls out of the game by presenting a Nest Hub which is full of features and presents itself as a real tool for managing the connected home. We regret, however, its lack of a front camera: a real plus that would have made it possible to make video calls. Note also that the screen of the Nest Hub is not the most efficient and watching movies or long videos is not recommended… Unfortunate for an assistant with a screen!
