Cyberpunk 2077: a Game of the Year Edition announced

Next year, Cyberpunk 2077 players will be able to experience Phantom Libertythe long-awaited extension of the role-playing game and first-person shooter of CD Project. The Polish studio will take the opportunity to bring out his game in a Game of the Year Edition bringing it all together.

This is Adam Kiciński, CEO of CD Projectwho revealed the information during a meeting with investors, relayed by Stockwatch. Phantom Liberty will be the only extension of Cyberpunk 2077but this edition GOTY will include the base game, this additional content and a “significant update”. An announcement which is not surprising, the previous title of CD Project had been entitled to the same treatment, even if there were two extensions here, as Adam Kiciński recalls:

That’s the natural order of things – it was the same with The Witcher, which after the two expansions was eventually released as a Game of the Year Edition, and has been sold that way ever since. The same can be expected in this case.

As a reminder, Phantom Liberty will only be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the edition GOTY of Cyberpunk 2077 should therefore only be released on these platforms. No release date has been announced, but it’s expected in 2023. Players were recently treated to a 1.6 update with content from the anime series Netflix Cyberpunk: Edge Runners and you can always find the base game at €59.99 on GOG.com.
