Since the 2021-2022 fiscal year ended very recently, get ready to see more and more financial statements falling in the coming days. It is CD Project Red which opens the ball, finally sharing new sales figures for Cyberpunk 2077which had not been updated since December 2020. And if the studio can be happy to have sold a few more copies, the game remains a long way from CD Projekt Red’s flagship, The Witcher 3.
Two games that sell in the millions, but Cyberpunk 2077 disappoints
The studio therefore tells us that it’s finally 18 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077 who have found takers. If the figure has something to impress at first sight, it is actually not so resounding as that. In December 2020, a handful of days after its (complicated) launch, CD Projekt Red announced that it had sold more than 13 million of the game. Which means that in almost a year and a half, the game has only managed to total 5 million more sales, which remains mixed for a game of this caliber.

This financial report also announces some very surprising news: the first extension of Cyberpunk 2077 won’t arrive before 2023.
