Cyberpunk: Edge Runners, Arcane and The Cuphead Show! seduced the crowds, but also the Game Awards ceremony, which nominated the three works for the prize for Best Adaptation of a Video Game.

Season 3 of The Cuphead Show! coming by the way very soon!

Full box for Netflix

The latest news, Netflix strongly wanted to reduce the airfoil and its investments in animated series. But with the massive success of its latest productions or acquisitions, the SVoD service may well want to reconsider its decision. Especially since last night, when the nominees for the Game Awards 2022 were announced, Netflix was very present in the middle of video games.

Indeed, out of five works selected in the Best Adaptation category, three come from Netflix. Unsurprisingly, the incredible animated series Arcane from Fortiche Studio, based on League of Legends, is in the game. Same for the most recent Cyberpunk: Edge Runners by Trigger studio. The kidnapped and mature anime accompanies The Cuphead Show!, the funny and visually very successful adaptation of the MDHR video game. Season 3 is coming this weekend.

To complete this category, the jury of The Game Awards (composed of more than one hundred media and video game personalities or elsewhere) chose the films Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Uncharted. Will their success at the box office and the presence of popular actors like Jim Carrey and Tom Holland be enough to win on December 8 when the results are announced? Nothing is less certain given the level of excellence of the three Netflix series. Until then, it is possible to vote for your favorite adaptation on The Game Awards website. Still a lot of adaptations in the boxes

While licenses like Castlevania, Dota, sonic or tekken also enjoy adaptations in animated series at Netflix, many other projects have been announced lately. In particular, a partnership with Ubisoft should soon bear fruit, with works based on Assassin’s Creed, The Division, far cry or Splinter Cell. Showstomb Raider, Horizon or BioShock are also in production.

There is therefore no doubt that Netflix, whose appetite for video games in all its forms is well established, will once again be at the Game Awards in 2023.
