This is undoubtedly what Karima Lebsir, Selim Zouaoui and Jules Loubaresse, the founders of the Cycle Zéro application, which connects site operators who want to get rid of materials (wood, windows, radiators, concrete…) and individuals who wish to reduce the cost of their work. For site managers, the approach is also interesting, because it allows them to save money by reducing the volume of waste they have to process, a costly procedure. This forces them to take the time to carefully dismantle and deposit the items they want to donate in order to quickly find buyers. Cycle Zéro is remunerated with the amount it saves the construction company compared to disposal in the recycling center (50% of the practical rate)
An important deposit
With the many renovation projects, in particular energy, the volume of materials to be recovered is only growing. In 2020, construction waste amounted to no less than 224 million tonnes. Of course, not everything is reusable, but the deposit is very important. Thus, if for the renovation of a building, the specifications require the use of radiators meeting the latest standards, the old ones are often still in working order. All the elements converge towards the strengthening of reuse in the field of construction. For example, the Anti-waste law for a circular economy (Agec) of February 10, 2020 established an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) channel specifically dedicated to waste from the building sector. This initiative aims in particular to optimize the prevention and management of this waste.
An offer that is destined to expand
If the deposit is important, the offer on the application is rather meager. It must be said that if the site operators are still a little reluctant to offer equipment (which must be checked before being offered on the application), the demand is very strong and the different lots offered on Cycle Zéro leave in a few minutes. It is therefore necessary to be on the lookout as soon as offers are available.
